DGCA Announces Candidates Forum

PRESS RELEASE February 26, 2015

On Saturday, March 7, 2015, the Downers Grove Community Advocates (DGCA) will hold a caucus for Village Council and Community High School District 99 candidates at Downers
Grove Fire Station #2,  5420 Main Street, Downers Grove.

The purpose of this caucus is to allow candidates an opportunity to educate the directors and members of the Downers Grove Community Advocates, as to their candidacy and platform. The question and answer sessions will be moderated by the members of the DGCA. The caucus will begin at 9:00 am with Village Council candidates followed by Community High School District 99 candidates. Candidates will speak with the DGCA individually, and each group of candidates will be asked identical questions.

The DGCA has been endorsing local candidates since 2004. It is comprised of a diverse and experienced group of residents who are committed to Downers Grove. They provide a positive,
constructive and independent voice in the discussions that will shape our community’s future. Members of the Advocates are a politically diverse group with many years of community service in government, the library, the schools and other civic groups. Our goal is to promote the best attributes of our village and to explore and inform citizens about those issues facing our community that will have an impact for many years to come.

The caucus is open to the public. No recording devices are permitted, and cell phones must be turned off before entering.

"Follow the path of the unsafe, independent thinker. Expose your ideas to the dangers of controversy. Speak your mind and fear less the label of crackpot than the stigma of conformity. And on issues that seem important to you, stand up and be counted at any cost."
